FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
David Carroll Associates, Inc. awarded Design/Build audiovisual systems project at UC Berkeley, Berkeley Art Museum/Pacific Film Archive.
DCA has been selected to lead the audiovisual design for BAM/PFA’s new home in downtown Berkeley, right across the street from the university’s main entrance. The iconic state of the art building designed by New York architecture firm Diller Scofidio + Renfro, will be a dynamic and engaging place to experience diverse art, film, performance and education programs, and is enhanced by advanced audiovisual technologies throughout.
The crown jewel of the facility is the new PFA theater which integrates the best archival film presentation with modern 4K digital cinema technologies and a new Meyer Acheron sound system. The theater is outfitted for special events and shows integrating live performance to support silent film and other art installation and educational events.
DCA will also provide technology solutions including a secondary smaller digital cinema screening room/classroom, interactive public spaces, signage, digital library management, and the unique Outdoor Cinema, incorporating a 32’ wide high definition LED screen, helping turn the museum “inside out” with public art installations and special screenings.
The new BAMPFA is scheduled to open in Q1 2016.
